A big thank you to everyone who contributed to our February kit swap. As a result many junior members and their parents have benefited from picking up kit and equipment for the coming season. This is a great way to recycle cricket gear which would otherwise clog up cupboards and sheds, and it makes cricket more affordable at a time when we could all do with making some savings. What’s more, thanks to donations made in the course of the kit swap, we have raised £1000! This will be split between a donation of £650 to East Elmbridge Food Bank and £350 towards the club’s fund to help make our junior cricket accessible to all. Particular thanks to our U9’s AGM Kevin Mcintosh whose bat restoration service is proving popular, bringing old bats back to life for new owners.
We think that there is still a lot of kit out there to be recycled and will provide another opportunity to swap as we run up to the start of the season. We will be setting aside an area in our new groundsman’s shed for drop off of articles at any time between 9am – 5pm Mon-Fri. We will then be giving the chance to pick up kit and donate to charity at our Season Opener in April. Please see what you have tucked away that could go to a new home: this includes boys, girls and adult clothing and the range of cricketing equipment. We have a developing relationship with the Food Bank and Community Hub in Molesey whom, through our continued efforts, we hope we can support on a more regular basis in the future.
