Sunday 27th August saw our U11 Jets win the Surrey County Cup Final!

Sunday 27th August 2023 saw the EMCC U11 Jets triumph against Dulwich CC in the final of the U11 Surrey County Cup. The Jets won the toss and elected to bat against an excellent Dulwich attack. Despite the loss of an early wicket, EMCC posted 126 for 6 off their 20 overs, with Rafe Chambers providing his customary calmness and diligence at the top of the order (33 RTNO), George Pegram contributing an important 22 to close the innings, and a joyous 33 off only 19 balls from the player of the match Josh Scharinger. The Jets then took to the field, and were immediately on point - chasing every ball, turning 2s into 1s and stopping boundaries in one of the best fielding performances this year. The bowling was equally impressive. With Jack Byrne unable to take part with a broken finger - but admirably cheering the team in from the sidelines - it was up to others to step up, and step up they did with brilliant spells from Oli Mac, Rafe Chambers, Henry Craft and Harry Winter sharing the wickets between them. The pick of the bowlers was Josh, who closed the innings with 3 for 13 to cap off a fine performance. We’re immensely proud of all the boys, with another cup to add to the cabinet alongside the Horsley & Send cup this season. It also shows the depth of talent we have at this age group, triumphing in spite of a number of absences for the final - so a huge shout out to the boys who have worked and trained so hard to feature in the team. Well done boys, and go on the Jets! We look forward to what is in store for 2024!
