For the past week it has been amazing to see so many members down at the club and enjoying the facilities with the sun shining.
Already there has been huge demand for the nets and we estimate over 200 cricketers have been able to safely practice in a Covid 19 secure environment. Thank you to everyone who has been patient and understanding with the strict gov't and ECB guidelines in place.
Since the ECB announcement last week the committee have been working on how to deliver a programme of Official EMCC training run by professional coaches. We have devised a four phased re-introduction of the programme which we hope delivers exceptional value to our members and a unique offering within the local area.
All phases are dependent on the latest ECB advice we receive but we do remain hopeful that 2020 will still see cricket matches down at Graburn Way.
Phase 1: Re-opening of the net facilities for 2020 members
Phase 2: Individual Clinic for 2020 members
Phase 3: Small Group/team training
Phase 4: Matches
We are thrilled that we are now ready to launch Phase 2 starting on Monday 25th May.
During phase 2, whilst only household and 1 on 1 coaching is allowed we are offering all 2020 playing members one individual 30 minute clinic with a member of our professional coaching team.
These clinics are to take place away from the net facility, on the outfield or part of the square if available focusing on bowling, fielding or some batting basics. Each session will be tailored to the age and ability of each player and should be done in consultation at the start of the session. Please bring your equipment with you if you have it.
Some examples of what could work well for different ages:
• U5-U9: Batting grip/stance, basic bowling action, catching and throwing technique (some equipment will be provided)
• U10-U14: Stabilising bowling action, high catching, throwing accuracy
• U15-Seniors: Agility in the field, quick release of the ball for direct throws, target bowling
Sessions are currently available Monday 25th May to Sunday 7th June. Once these slots are booked we will release the remaining slots for the week beginning 8th June. Due to the bank holiday and half term week we have released more slots for 25th and 26th May than any other day.
It is strictly one booking per playing member and any multiple bookings will be cancelled. When entering the name on the booking please use the name of player who will be doing the session.
Please follow the booking guidelines:

Here is a reminder of the ECB guidelines, the booking system and what is open and what will remain closed:
All members can use the outfield for their enjoyment with soft balls. We hope that this area can provide a well maintained, safe and exclusive environment for our members to enjoy as a family during your leisure time.
BOOKING SYSTEM
Along with ECB guidelines primarily for the safety of our members we are operating an advance booking system for members only. Initially only one booking per member per week will be allowed in 80 minute slots. This will be reviewed on a week by week basis.
Please use common sense, consideration and respect when booking the nets as well as during your time within them. We want to make sure as many members get the opportunity for some much needed exercise and enjoyment.
Please do not try to book multiple sessions per week and please do not book if you haven't yet registered as a member for 2020. In both circumstances the sessions will be cancelled.
All members under the age of 16 will need to be supervised by an adult.
When entering the name on the booking please use the name of player who will be doing the session.
TO BOOK: https://emcc-net-booking.appointlet.com
Please have booking confirmation to hand during your time at the ground. There will be a membership sign in sheet on entrance to the nets, if you can please bring your own pen to avoid sharing.
CLUB REPRESENTATIVE ON SITE
ECB rules have made it mandatory for there to be a club representative on site at all times. Jamie Southgate our Director of Cricket or another member of his coaching team will be on site at all times whilst the nets are open.
GUIDELINES FOR USE
Following ECB guidelines (attached), we will only be initially opening the two end lanes of our net facility for general member use.
Entrance to the ground must be on foot through the small entrances either side of the Graburn Way hedge. Parking might be possible on Graburn Way if there is space but please do cycle or walk if you can.
Please do not congregate in groups around the nets. Arrive 5 mins before and leave within 5 mins of your session finishing.
Covid 19 Compliance:
Please do read the attached guidelines before coming down and using the facilities.
I look forward to seeing you in the near future.
